Antimicrobial Activity of Three Microalgae Isolated from Mediterranean Sea Coast, Egypt

ABSTRACT

Chloroform, acetone, ethanol, methanol in addition to water extract of three microalgae cyanobacteria (phormidiumformusum), green algae ( chlorella marina) and diatom (Navicula f. delicatula) isolated from Egyptian coast of the Mediterranean Sea, in Alexandria were evaluated for their antibacterial and anti-fungal activities against tested by agar well diffusion method for their antibacterial and antifungal agent production on various human and plant pathogenic bacteria(Staphylococcus aureus and MicrococusLuteus),three gram negative(Serratiamarcescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and unicellular fungus (Candida albicans). Data showed that some extracts recorded strong inhibitory activities as compared to standard antibiotics.
