Isatin-3-(isonicotinoyl) hydrazone and substituted isatin-3(isonicotinoyl) hydrazone were synthesized and their antibacterial activity was screened. It was observed that the Mannich base with methtyl, isopropyl and isobutyl group substituted Istain –3 -(isonicotinoyl) hydrazone exhibited higher activity and inhibit the growth of almost all the tested bacteria. Among the series, the least active was the compound residues and the methyl derivative (II-20) is the most active.
